But more than that, we are looking for ambition. If you have it, we want you.
As a Sponsorship Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our sponsorship strategy. Working across a variety of teams in Chaos Theory, you will help manage and execute a key sponsorship vertical under the guidance of the Head of Sponsorship.
Chaos Theory works at the digital intersection of sports, entertainment, and cryptocurrency, and we are hiring to grow like crazy. Early in your tenure, we want you to be able to say, “I am learning new things every day, and my work is directly contributing to the kind of growth most companies can only dream of.”
Let’s make that happen together.
A Day in the Life
As Sponsorship Manager at Chaos theory, a typical day might look like this:
You start your day reviewing the news to get the scoop on activity in the world of sponsorship and partnerships. You enjoy the challenge of keeping close track of developments around the verticals we operate in, and enjoy being the one to uncover any gossip, negative/positive press or interesting narratives. You’ve been keeping track systematically to build up an accurate picture of one of our partnerships and this morning you uncover a couple of areas of concern that you raise to management, as well as one exciting opportunity you’d like to explore.
You pivot in the late morning to focus on creating a brief to send to activation agencies around a fun new concept you've developed, inspired by something you saw at a recent live event.
After a working lunch meeting with a rights holder, you lead a meeting with team mates from Brand, Customer Acquisition and Business Development. You’re driving alignment on both existing and potential sponsorships and these are your key internal stakeholders.
You dive into deep-work mode after that, analyzing data from our sponsorship activities, looking to calculate ROI, both to review the current partnerships but also help us model returns more accurately for prospective partnerships.
You bring these insights into a brainstorming session which you’re leading with a group from across the business. You’re looking for fresh perspectives and you’re stoked that the group comes up with some actionable new ideas for you to follow up on tomorrow!
In the evening you jump on a call with one of the sponsorships you manage, their team is in another timezone but it’s important you stay up to date and have some “face-to-face” time to discuss new activities and address a couple of concerns you have.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Demonstrable experience in sponsorship, activation marketing and account management.
- A strong passion for sport, gaming and pop-culture - we live it every day!
- An excellent understanding of English (verbal and written). You’ll need to communicate effectively with agencies, rights holders and colleagues.
- Strong negotiation skills. You understand how to push, pull, and compromise.
- A strong analytical background. You’ll need to run the numbers on our partnerships and make sure they are on track through rigorous reporting.
- A keen eye for detail and an ability to see the larger business objectives.
- Experience in managing partnerships, and building and maintaining relationships with rights holders and agencies.
- A driven personality and an ability to work within a fast-paced team.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritize multiple responsibilities based on ROI and business goals.
It’d be great - but not necessary - if you also had:
- Experience activating global sponsorships and working with agencies to make them come to life
- A global network in sports and pop-culture. We’re always looking for the next opportunity.
You will be responsible for:
- Activation management - you’ll lead this across all assets within your sponsorship vertical, which includes managing the overall activation strategy; owning the agency, partner and rights holder relationships; working across all relevant business areas to prepare activation plans; engaging external advisors and agencies to help implement the plan if required and establishing collaborations with other relevant parties.
- Budget management - you’ll develop, own, work within the confines of, and actively manage an activation budget for each asset that you manage.
- Identification of sponsorship opportunities within your vertical - you’ll look across events, talent, influencers and at grass root level to find sponsorship opportunities. Once discovered you’ll analyze opportunities and potential benefits across the company (marketing, brand, VIP, product and engineering) to outline possible activations.
- Business analysis - You will need to regularly report on and demonstrate the ROI of our partnerships and ensure that they are leading to positive business outcomes. Making recommendations for change where needed in order to drive efficiency.
- Industry intelligence and best practice - you’ll drive competitor analysis, taking learnings, best practices and innovations from brands across all segments. You’ll understand valuation and monitor recent transactions to assist in benchmarking.
- Staff engagement - you’ll develop and implement internal staff engagement strategies around your sponsorship vertical including identification, ideation, and implementation of any relevant staff benefits and immersion activities.
- Moving the needle on these key metrics:
- revenue acquired through sponsorship & partnership channels in your vertical
- brand awareness, visibility and market position.
- increased traffic of new customers, attributable directly or indirectly to sponsorship activity
- compliance with brand guidelines
In exchange, we offer:
- A dynamic, collaborative, fun, yet challenging work environment.
- Attractive salary and benefits.
- Flexible working hours.
- An office located in the heart of Central, Hong Kong.
- A state-of-the-art entertaining floor, including a fully stocked bar and pantry, gaming consoles, and a growing library.
- A team of 100+ globally representing over 20 countries — we’re multi-cultural and proud of it!
- Onsite company gym / yoga studio with showers, changing rooms and free daily classes.
- Expensed weekly team lunches and a quarterly team entertainment allowance.
- Company events, including Christmas and Summer parties and our much loved beach BBQs.
Where you’ll work:
Based out of six floors of office, gym, yoga studio, and entertainment space in Hong Kong’s SoHo district, we work with colleagues around the world to shake things up in one of the most exciting places on the internet today — the digital center of sports, entertainment, and cryptocurrency.
We're looking for someone based in Hong Kong for this role – it's a local gig!
